RADNOR, Pa., June 17, 2020 – Lincoln Financial Group (NYSE: LNC) is honored to share that Lisa M. Buckingham, Executive Vice President and Chief People, Place and Brand Officer, has been named to N2Growth’s 2020 Top CHRO List – The People Leaders to Watch. Buckingham is ranked second out of 25 top Chief Human Resource Officers (CHROs) across industries. The list recognizes leading HR executives who are shaping careers, culture and talent at the world’s most innovative people-driven companies.

“When I consider the dozen or so criteria used to narrow the list of qualifiers, there is one that especially sums up why Lisa deserves this recognition,” said Lincoln’s president and CEO Dennis R. Glass. “She is engaged, transparent, and accountable – and she cares. Above all else, she is passionate about our people and their well-being. While these traits are always critical attributes for someone in her role, never have they been more important, or apparent in Lisa, than during the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.”

The ranking considers a variety of factors, including impact, growth and performance of the organizations these CHROs lead, peer recommendations, impact on their industry and in their broader communities, commitment to diversity and inclusion as a cornerstone of their work and more.

Buckingham has played a critical leadership role in Lincoln’s response to COVID-19. Overseeing all Human Resources functions as well as Business Continuity, Communications, Brand, Real Estate and much more, her organization has been at the center of Lincoln’s actions to protect employees and ensure the business continues to deliver to clients and customers. She also oversees the work of Lincoln’s Foundation, which in recent months has donated $2 million to food and housing organizations, serving individuals impacted by COVID-19.

Going beyond Lincoln’s virtual “walls,” Buckingham is also a founding champion of People + Work Connect, an employer-to-employer initiative formed to combat unemployment caused by COVID-19, which brings together companies laying off or furloughing people with those companies in urgent need of workers.

A fierce and constant advocate for diversity and inclusion, another area of the organization under her purview, Buckingham is also leading Lincoln’s response to recent racial injustice across the country, along with Lincoln’s Chief Diversity Officer, Allison Green Johnson, and in close partnership with CEO Dennis Glass.

“Our purpose at Lincoln extends far beyond our organization – especially in times of crisis. We believe we have a responsibility as a company to help our country get through trying times, and to be a part of positive change. Lisa’s leadership and innovation help us rise to that expectation every day,” said Glass.

Buckingham was previously included on the inaugural version of this Top CHRO List in 2015, published in Forbes. In the years since, the N2Growth has continued to expand and refine the list by looking for CHROs who innovate and outperform their peers in any market environment.
