"Pride is all about promoting self-affirmation and self-love. It’s a radiation of inclusiveness and positivity. It’s celebrating, and having the freedom, to be your authentic self." - Mary Lou, LGBTQ+ Business Resource Group member, Lincoln Financial Employee

Mary Lou T. is a senior consultant on the Talent Strategy team, based in Lincoln Financial’s Radnor office when not working from home due to the pandemic. She joined the company in 2014. In her role, Mary Lou is responsible for implementing innovative tools and programs to further the company’s talent agenda.

Mary Lou earned a bachelor’s degree from Bloomsburg University. Throughout her career, she has found a passion for identifying ways to continuously improve leadership effectiveness, workforce capability, the employee experience and talent mobility. She is an active member of Lincoln Financial’s LGBTQ+ Business Resource Group.

In honor of Lincoln’s recognition by the Human Rights Campaign as one of the Best Places to Work for LGBTQ+ Equality and the company’s 100% rating on the Corporate Equality Index for the 6th consecutive year, we sat down with Mary Lou for three short questions…

  1. What do you love most about working for Lincoln Financial?
The culture. I love how collaborative the teams at Lincoln are, even now in a virtual environment. I love my coworkers – I’ve met some incredible people over the past six years that I consider my Lincoln family and I’m forever grateful for those relationships. I’m constantly in awe of the amazing talent that we have across this company – everyone that I’ve encountered is always willing to help you succeed.

  2. Why did you join Lincoln’s LGBTQ+ Business Resource Group (one of seven employee-driven groups designed to support Lincoln’s business and diversity objectives)?
I joined the LGBTQ+ Business Resource Group because I have a sincere passion for equality, inclusion and wanting to drive change in the workforce. As an LGBTQ+ ally, I want to ensure that I have an opportunity to make an impact across Lincoln, including our employees, stakeholders and the community we serve.

  3. What does PRIDE mean to you?
For me, Pride isn’t just a month but a constant state of mind. Pride is all about promoting self-affirmation and self-love. It’s a radiation of inclusiveness and positivity. It’s celebrating, and having the freedom, to be your authentic self.
